We believe that one of the best ways of increasing the community’s “Share of the Wallet” is by giving much-needed exposure to Black businesses that would otherwise struggle for brand recognition and market presence. In an effort to bring awareness to these businesses we have created this Directory of Black businesses within Durham.

The directory includes more than traditional shops, it showcases web and home-based companies working extremely hard to be seen and heard. The collection is a one-stop resource for the greater Durham community to discover and support Black-owned businesses.

In addition to bringing together start-ups, growing companies and well-established businesses, the initiative:

• provides a space to showcase Black culture and entrepreneurs;
• promotes entrepreneurial equity to help strengthen the local economy; and
• helps increase Black visibility and representation within the community.
